Jodhpur is the second gateway to Jawai after Udaipur, and for many travellers the more convenient one: the road is flat and fast, the drive is under four hours, and the leopard hills of Jawai make a natural two-night extension to the Blue City. By road
Leave Jodhpur on the Pali highway. The road is dual carriageway most of the way to Pali, then continues south through Sumerpur to the Jawai turn-off. Allow three and a half to four hours with a tea stop. Leaving by 11 am puts you at the pickup point in time for the evening safari.
By train
Trains on the Jodhpur to Ahmedabad line stop at Falna, and some local services stop at Jawai Bandh station beside the dam. From either station it is a short taxi ride to the safari zones; we arrange the pick-up. Check current timings before you book, as stops vary by train.
A two-night Jodhpur to Jawai itinerary
- Day 1: Leave Jodhpur after breakfast, arrive Jawai by early afternoon, check in, evening leopard safari.
- Day 2: Sunrise safari, late breakfast, rest through the heat, evening drive to the reservoir shore and the sunset viewpoint at Jawai Bandh.
- Day 3: Optional sunrise safari, then the drive back to Jodhpur or on to Udaipur.

Best time to make the trip

Trains from Jodhpur to Jawai (Falna station)
Falna (station code FA) is the main railway station for Jawai, on the Ahmedabad to Ajmer trunk line, about 25 km and 40 minutes from the safari zones. Jawai Bandh station beside the dam serves a few local trains. Times below are from the current timetable; confirm on IRCTC before you travel, and tell us your train so the pick-up is waiting.

- Choose a category, not a property. Economic, Standard, Luxury or Ultra-Luxury, by budget and who is travelling. The Jawai resorts comparison explains each.
- Message the booking desk on WhatsApp with your dates, number of adults and children with their ages, how many safaris you want, and whether you want the hilltop high tea.
- Get availability and a quote within a few hours. We check the property and the safari slots for your dates and reply on the same chat.
- Pay the advance by UPI, card or net banking through Razorpay. The advance secures the room and the jeep.
- Receive your confirmation on WhatsApp and email with the pickup point, timings and the tracker’s number.
- Settle the balance before check-in, then arrive at the pickup point 15 minutes before your first safari.

Before you go
- Sunrise safaris leave around 5:30 am in season and sunset safaris around 4:30 pm; the tracker confirms exact times the evening before.
- Carry a light jacket from November to February, a hat and sunscreen the rest of the year, and a scarf for dust on the tracks.
- Binoculars are provided. Bring a zoom lens if you shoot; leopards on Jawai’s granite often allow 15 to 30 metre approaches.
- Mobile signal is patchy in the hills. Download offline maps and share your booking confirmation with someone at home.
- Jawai never closes. Summer and monsoon drives are quieter and sightings continue.
