Mumbai to Jawai is a popular weekend getaway route. While it’s 750 km away, excellent train connectivity and affordable flights to Udaipur make it very accessible. Here’s how to plan your trip.
Best Option: Fly to Udaipur + Drive to Jawai
The fastest and most comfortable route from Mumbai:
- Flight: Mumbai → Udaipur (Maharana Pratap Airport) — 1.5 hours, ₹3,000–₹8,000
- Drive: Udaipur → Jawai — 150 km, 3–4 hours by taxi (₹3,000–₹4,500)
Total time: ~5-6 hours | Total cost: ₹6,000–₹12,500
By Train — Overnight to Jawai Bandh
| Train | Departs | Arrives Jawai Bandh | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suryanagari Express | Mumbai Bandra (evening) | Next morning | ~14 hours |
| Ranakpur Express | Mumbai Bandra (evening) | Next morning | ~15 hours |
| Barmer Express | Mumbai Central (afternoon) | Early morning | ~16 hours |
Train ticket prices: ₹400–₹500 (Sleeper), ₹800–₹1,200 (3AC), ₹1,500–₹2,500 (2AC). Overnight trains are ideal — you sleep on the train and wake up at Jawai!
By Road — 750 km (Not Recommended as Primary)
Driving from Mumbai is a 12–14 hour journey via NH 48 through Gujarat. It’s doable but exhausting. We recommend this only if you’re planning a multi-stop road trip (Mumbai → Mount Abu → Jawai → Udaipur).
Cost Comparison
| Option | Cost (Per Person) | Total Time | Comfort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flight + Taxi | ₹6,000–₹12,500 | 5–6 hours | Most comfortable |
| Overnight Train | ₹400–₹2,500 | 14–16 hours | Good (sleep on train) |
| Drive (own car) | ₹4,000–₹6,000 (fuel) | 12–14 hours | Tiring |

How to book your stay and safari, step by step

- Message the booking desk on WhatsApp with your dates, number of adults and children with their ages, how many safaris you want, and whether you want the hilltop high tea.
- Get availability and a quote within a few hours. We check the property and the safari slots for your dates and reply on the same chat.
- Pay the advance by UPI, card or net banking through Razorpay. The advance secures the room and the jeep.
- Receive your confirmation on WhatsApp and email with the pickup point, timings and the tracker’s number.
- Settle the balance before check-in, then arrive at the pickup point 15 minutes before your first safari.

Before you go
- Sunrise safaris leave around 5:30 am (6:00 am from November to February) and sunset safaris around 5:00 pm (3:30 pm from November to February); the tracker confirms exact times the evening before.
- Carry a light jacket from November to February, a hat and sunscreen the rest of the year, and a scarf for dust on the tracks.
- Binoculars are provided. Bring a zoom lens if you shoot; leopards on Jawai’s granite often allow 15 to 30 metre approaches.
- Mobile signal is patchy in the hills. Download offline maps and share your booking confirmation with someone at home.
- Jawai never closes. Summer and monsoon drives are quieter and sightings continue.
